May
May is always one of the most difficult times of the year to find home grown vegetables, but there should be good quality asparagus in the shops and why not try some of the delicious iron-strong spring greens - but be careful not to overcook or you will lose much of the vitamin C. The new potatoes are readily available and a real spring treat. With storage systems improving it is still possible to find old season British leeks and swedes in the shops.
